Flexible stainless steel sheet that can be freely curved.
Extremely lightweight and can be fixed with double-sided tape or adhesives.
It can also be cut with simple tools such as metal cutting scissors.
Stainless Steel in an Era of Soaring Material Prices and Sustainability
According to data released by the Ministry of the Environment, the industrial sector accounts for 35% of total CO2 emissions in Japan, and 40% (or about 14% of the total) of these emissions are said to come from production activities in the steel sector.
Steel and stainless steel are indispensable basic materials for industry, have a long service life, and a complete recycling ecosystem has been established once produced. In the long term, the metals are “eco-friendly” in terms of their longevity.
However, it is a fact that greenhouse gases are generated during production. In addition, resource prices have been extremely unstable in recent years, making them an uncertain factor when selecting materials.
Toyo Stainless Polishing Kogyo, as a manufacturer of design metals, offers a new “flexible stainless steel” under the MAKO brand in order to provide a variety of options.
This flexible stainless steel has a design polished on the surface of ultra-thin stainless steel, and can be attached to objects with an adhesive sheet on the back (attachment method is optional). Compared to stainless steel panels, this product is overwhelmingly lightweight, eliminating the need for special construction methods. Also, it is possible to freely express three-dimensional bending (bending, rippling, etc.), which is difficult to do with stainless steel panels. The use of less metal also has cost advantages, and we hope that this will be an option from the viewpoint of sustainability as well.
