Our Mysterious Mirror® JEUX D’EAU has been selected to cover the atrium ceiling of Japan Railway East Niigata Station. The Niigata Station Atrium is part of a redevelopment project that had been underway since 2006 and was opened on 25 April 2024, attracting attention as a new landmark for Niigata.
A Design Inspired by the Shinano River
The concept behind the design of this atrium is “the creation of a space that is vibrant and characteristic of Niigata”. In particular, the Mysterious Mirror® JEUX D’EAU was used on the ceiling to create the image of the flow of the Shinano River, one of Niigata’s most famous landscapes. This Mysterious Mirror creates a beautiful reflection of the river, using the effects of light and reflection to provide visitors with a space that blends in with Niigata’s nature.
Materials that let you feel nature in Niigata
The topography and scenery of Niigata are cleverly incorporated into the design of the atrium at Niigata Station. In addition to the Mysterious Mirror® JEUX D’EAU used to represent the Shinano River, the atrium incorporates a wealth of design elements that evoke Niigata, such as tiles inspired by the Niigata Sand Dunes and rice fields, steel fins that mimic the surface of rocks in mountains, and beech wood furniture.
Features of Mysterious Mirror® JEUX D’EAU
Mysterious Mirror® JEUX D’EAU is a designing panel with a unique reflective effect that cannot be found anywhere else, making it possible to express the flow of water and the flicker of light. Not only is this product customizable, it is also an environmentally friendly design material that can be recycled thanks to its stainless steel construction. Beyond its visual appeal, this product is an environmentally friendly material that contributes to a sustainable society.
Contribution to the Project
In this project, our Mysterious Mirror® JEUX D’EAU played a symbolic role in linking the beautiful nature of Niigata with urban design. In particular, the ceiling design expressing the Shinano River makes a strong impression on visitors, giving them a sense of Niigata’s rich culture and history.
